Influence of Organizational Culture in Implementing Strategic Plans among Savings and Credit Co-Operative Societies in Nakuru County, Kenya

Abstract

Organizational culture sets the behavior of employees and motivating them to achieve the company’s strategic goals, influences the effectiveness of the strategy formulation and implementation process. Organization culture always influences the actions and opinions held within an organization. The purpose of this study was to highlight the influence of the organizational culture on implementation of strategic plans among SACCOs in Nakuru County. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire that was administered to sample of 118 respondents in the 58 selected SACCOs in Nakuru County. The results show that the coefficient to which organizational Culture affects the achievement of strategic plans 0.711 is significantly greater than zero since the significance of t-statistics 0.000 is less than 0.05. This can be interpreted to mean, improving the organization culture by one unit increases the level of strategy implementation by 0.711. The study concluded that while most SACCOs may have established the right culture, they are not conducive enough to facilitate effective implementation of strategic plans. SACCOs should, therefore, look for ways in which they will create a very conducive in order to fully achieve their intended outcomes from their strategic plans. Furthermore, the study recommends that organization culture should at all-time be consistent or support the strategy that the organization wants to implement
